Cynthia Smith, Associate

Ms. Smith is a member of the Maryland State Bar. She received her law degree from the American University, Washington College of Law. While at the Washington College of Law, Ms. Smith was a staff member of the Administrative Law Review, represented immigrant clients as a student attorney for the International Human Rights Law Clinic, and studied international comparative law in London, Paris, and Geneva. Since joining The Employment Law Group^® law firm in 2007, Ms. Smith has worked on a variety of employment discrimination, wage nonpayment, and whistleblower retaliation cases under federal and state laws.

Prior to her career in law, Ms. Smith directed civil society and governance programming for Partners of the Americas. She has also coordinated a number of legal services and human rights programs both domestically and abroad for non-governmental organizations based in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Smith earned her Masters of Arts degree in Spanish Studies with an area focus in International Development from American University and her Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, in Spanish Studies from Gettysburg College. Ms. Smith is fluent in Spanish.
